Capital Improvements
The Board of Trustees and the Church Council have been considering a number of projects that are intended to keep our church building beautiful and structurally sound.
1. The re-shingling of the steeple. This was recently completed at a cost of $9,475.00. The previous covering was done in 1962.
2. The roof over the front stairwell is in need of replacement. This roof was installed originally in 1976. The estimate for this work is $3,500.00
3. The carpet in front of the altar is wrinkling, which would cause a person to trip on the way to the altar. Because of the type of installation the rug cannot be stretched. It will have to be replaced, even though it is only nine years old.
4. The casing on the exterior windows should be repainted.
5. Because of peeling paint, it is obvious that the sanctuary should be repainted. This will include the stenciling around the arches. The estimate for the stenciling was $4,900.00, but did not include the stenciling around the window behind the altar. We do not have, as yet, an estimate for the repainting.
We have received an offer of financial assistance from a former member of the congregation. He has offered to match expenditures for major projects up to a maximum of $50,000.00. This is not an upfront offer, but can be completed over a period of time.
